Image of the Day on Space.com

The second “Super-Moon” of 2014 was also the Harvest Moon – and I finally was able to capture a decent image of the full moon rising.  It’s not as easy as you would think.  There is a lot of location research that goes into pulling off one of those unusually large-looking full moon photos.  So after I took the photo, I had that feeling of… Well now what?  I didn’t just go through all of that trouble so I could post it on Facebook – and that’s why I decided to try and get it published.

So I sent it out to the my regular websites, and apparently Space.com was impressed enough to publish it as their "Image of the Day."

Unfortunately, at the end of each week, Space.com takes all images of the day for that week, groups them on one page, and re-titles them “Best Night Sky Photos of the Week.  So that’s why my title doesn’t match theirs.

* Fair warning before you click that second link: It’s probably not worth the hassle. Since my image was the last one of the week, you’ll have to scroll through all the other photos before reaching mine. That’s why I screen-grabbed and posted it above. If you want to read the text, you can enlarge the screen grab that says “Open in Lightbox” to your right.
